The Help 4 the Homeless Project
Help 4 the Homeless [H4tH] is a longitudinal project, conducted by various YOU[th] Against Poverty [YAP] Committees. The Members collect donations from the public and re-distributes them to rough sleepers in Birmingham City Centre and the surrounding urban areas. The aim of this project is to provide rough sleepers with the necessities for survival: i.e. food, drink, clothing, tents, sleeping bags and hygiene products. The Members of YAP also engage with the beneficiaries of the project to uncover some of the social and structural factors influencing homelessness. This form of action is favoured by the organisation, as the Members are able to provide direct support and humanitarian assistance to homeless individuals, without being constrained by bureaucratic obstacles.
